Art Gallery

The Egyptian Theatre Art Gallery is host to many different groups and artists through the year. There is a new exhibit almost each month featuring different community groups such as the Kishwaukee Valley Art League, Northern Illinois University, and area schools. The art gallery is always open when there are live events at the theatre and each exhibiting group has a reception towards the opening of their exhibit.

2008 Spring Schedule

February 9 - March 30: Kishwaukee Valley Art League

Reception - Saturday, February 23 (11:00am-1:00pm)

KVAL is a non-profit organization that meets on the first Thursday of each month, September through December and February through June. More information on KVAL is available by calling KVAL publicity chair Jerry Hallaron at 815-748-1197.

April 5 - April 27: Beryl MacLachlan Photography Exhibit

Reception - Sunday, April 27 (12:00pm-2:00pm)

Beryl MacLachlan became a serious photographer in 2000, when her first experiments with a digital camera showed her that she could have full control of the production of color photographs--that she would not need to rely on a commercial processing lab to get her desired effects. Her initial interest, fueled by field work in entomology (the study of insects) was in showing nature literally from a perspective that a person cannot achieve unaided. She soon also became fascinated with the hidden possibilities of digital image processing, becoming something of a Photoshop geek in the process. Her goal, most often, is to show an unexpected side of what people often see as ordinary aspects of nature. Typically, her images are processed--she applies Photoshop filters--but she does not alter them in the sense of adding or removing objects. Beryl's academic background is in biology and in law. She is a research attorney for the appellate court (state court of appeals) in Elgin. She lives in Batavia.

May 9 - June 4: DeKalb School District Art Exhibit

Reception - Friday, May 9 (5:00pm-7:00pm)
